Walking the South West Coast Path
The South West Coast Path is England's longest National Trail, a 630-mile walk around the edge of the south-west peninsula. It starts at Minehead in Somerset, runs along Exmoor and the north coast of Devon, follows the whole coastline of Cornwall past Land's End and the Lizard, crosses the Tamar back into Devon, and finishes along the Dorset coast at Poole Harbour.
It is also one of the toughest. The path drops into so many coves and river mouths that its climbs add up to more than 115,000 feet, about four times the height of Everest, and the South West Coast Path Association's own itinerary spreads the full walk over 52 days. Many people walk it in sections, a weekend or a week at a time, over several years.
It is also the path at the heart of The Salt Path, the book and film that have brought a new wave of walkers to this coast. Whether you have walked all of it or one stretch you keep going back to, this poster puts the whole route on your wall, so you can see exactly where your own days on the coast fit in.
